Displays the histogram of the current image, and allows the user to change the image display parameters (Background and Range).
Background: The pixel value for the background. All pixels with values lower than the value specified for "Background" will appear black in the display. A lower background value will display the image brighter, while a higher background value will display the image darker. The Background can also be set with the lower one of the two sliders.
Range: The range in pixel values among which the gray values of the display will be spread. A larger range will display the image with less contrast, while a smaller range will display the image at higher contrast. The Range can also be set with the upper one of the two sliders.
Logarithmic Scaling: Check this option to use logarithmic scaling instead of linear scaling. Logarithmic scaling will handle a wider range of contrast in the image, so you may want to select this option when working on a bright comet (to see the nucleus in the coma) or when looking for an object within a galaxy (e.g., a supernova). Faint objecs on a dark sky, however, will appear less obvious when using logarithmic scaling.
Apply to all Images: By checking this option, a similar scaling will be used for all currently loaded images.
Auto: By clicking this button, the software will analyze the image histogram and will suggest values for the background and range. The same display parameters are set automatically when the image is loaded.
Preview: By clicking this button, you can preview the image display with the current settings.
