The Object Identification Dialogue can be called from the Object Verification Window and is used to identify minors planets or comets. It displays both the full and packed designation of all objects in the MPCOrb databse that are expected to be within 1° of the measured position, down to the limiting magnitude of the image.

In addition to the designations, the list shows the offset of the calculated position for each object (specified in arc minutes for both RA and Dec) from the measured position, the predicted magnitude, as well as speed and direction (position angle) of the motion for each object within 1° of the measured position. Note that the offset is calculated from an unperturbed orbit, and is provided for the purpose of identification only. It is not suitable to judge the quality of the observation.
